The Science Behind Flow-FX

Beyond simple stabilization, our dynamic solutions help to restore bone for improved fracture healing and better patient care.

Affecting nearly 100,000 patients each year, improper healing results in delayed and non-union fractures.

Fracture Healing is Complex

Type of Injury

Osteoporotic Fractures

Osteoporotic Fractures

High risk of fixation failure due to inherent weaknesses in overall bone quality and architecture.

Microstructural Fractures

Microstructural Fractures

Can be a significant component of subchondral lesions.

Avascular Necrosis

Avascular Necrosis (AVN)

Loss of blood supply to the bone can result in fracture and collapse due to bone depth.

Healing Complications

Delayed Healing

Delayed Healing / Non-Unions

DHFs are notoriously difficult to treat and affect both medical outcomes and financial burden to the patient.

Failure of Fixation

Failure of Fixation

Failure of fracture fixation often leads to challenging surgical revisions.

IAFF

Infection After Fracture Fixation (IAFF)

High rates of IAFF exist; infections may result in permanent loss of function or amputation.

Specific Patient Populations

High-Risk Fractures

High-Risk Fractures

Certain fractures are high risk due to inherent weaknesses in overall bone quality, injury type and loss of blood supply.

Aging

Aging

Age-related fractures are projected to increase from 2.1 million in 2005 to over 3 million in 2025.

Painful Joints

Painful Joints

Can often be the result of subchondral fractures.

Bone is a living tissue

Bone is a Living, Constantly Regenerating, Dynamic Biologic Tissue

Fixation alone may not be enough in complex fractures. Agents that modulate bone formation and remodeling may be needed to further promote healing, but these agents are generally not administered to a fracture at the time of surgery or the necessary time during the healing process.

Delivering these agents directly to the fracture site can aid in bone regeneration and may shorten healing times.

Flow-Drill
Low-Trauma Biologic Delivery

Flow-Drill™

Designed to be used with any HMT/Zimmer-Hall handle, the Flow-Drill allows you to easily deliver biologics after the injured bone is affected by avascular necrosis, subchondral lesions and other bone conditions. Also suitable for precision biopsies, bone marrow aspiration and aspiration of bone cysts.

  • Available in multiple diameters
  • Allows for successful treatment while minimizing risk of collapse and fracture
  • Designed to facilitate precise, low-impact delivery of healing biologic materials and bone void filler
  • Patented Luer fitting enables driver attachment for precise, low-impact placement
2-Can
Pre-Fixation Biologic Delivery

2-Can™

A patented device employing a side port cannula to let you precisely deliver biologics over a guide-wire after drilling or tapping but before screw or nail placement. Its multi-channeled cannula design isolates the biologics delivery chamber from the guide-wire to prevent unwanted biologic extrusion.

  • Multi-channeled side port cannula
  • Integral plunger
  • Radiopaque tip
  • Available in sizes to work with almost all intramedullary nails and 7.3mm, 6.5mm, and 5.5mm screws
Flow-Screw
510k-Cleared · Patented

Flow-Screw™

The patented, 510k-cleared Flow-Screw system lets you stabilize skeletal structures and deliver bone void filler in locations throughout the body. A fenestrated design includes an aggressive thread and a wide range of lengths for treating osteoporotic fractures and complex non-healing fractures.

Suitable for use as a standalone system or alongside other systems to suit your needs.

  • Patented side port cannula precision delivery
  • Available in multiple sizes, partially and fully threaded versions
  • Fenestrated screws
  • Unique head design allows for removal using a standard hex head driver
  • Patented IO adapter for diffuse BVF delivery when side port cannula isn't needed
Flow-Nail
510k-Cleared · With LagLock™

Flow-Nail™

The only patented 510k-cleared nail for delivering bone void filler where you need it while protecting the joint from unintended intrusion of biologic material. Combines the familiar utility of top fracture fixation with state-of-the-art bone void filler delivery mechanisms.

Suitable for use as a standalone device for healing both intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric fractures.

  • Patented side port cannula for precision delivery through fenestrations
  • Available in a variety of neck angles and lengths
  • Uses manual low-pressure delivery
  • Designed to protect the hip joint from unintended intrusion of material
  • Robust patented static locking mechanism (LagLock™)
Flow-NeedleIO
Under Development · Pending 510k Clearance

Flow-NeedleIO

The acute care needle designed with long-term delivery in mind. Designed with multiple scenarios in mind, from the trauma scene to the ICU. Its unique design includes a patented luer fitting that improves ease of placement, use and removal.

  • Ergonomic handle enables manual placement
  • AO driver allows use as counter torque while attaching IV lines or as forceps
  • Constructed with an AO fitted driver
  • Threaded proximal needle increases fixation
  • Custom dressing
  • Fenestrated on the distal end assures reliable flow
  • Easy IV line hook up
